Riding His Bike To Summer Camp

Last week, Benji started riding his bike to summer camp (I ride behind or beside him on the sidewalk, on my bike). I've been completely delinquent about teaching him how to ride a bike and he never rode the balance bike enough to get really good at that. However, he's showing good progress now and hopefully he'll catch up this summer.  --Victoria

P.S. In related news, Aaron joined the Capitol Hill Bike Share and has been riding a bike to work and back every day!

Boogie Babes!

Celeste regularly takes Tamar, Daniel, and Brooklynn to a local event called "Boogie Babes" which is advertised as "a live music performance for kids and their grownups." They love to listen to the music and dance along. These are photos from last Thursday.  --Victoria

Benji is reading up a storm!

One evening last week, Aaron told Benji he needed to read a book before he could watch a TV show he had asked for. Benji proceeded to sit down and read the first 35 or so pages of "Harry and the Lady Next Door" at a pretty good clip, sounding out words like "should" and "neighbor" without stumbling. It's been a busy few weeks and I haven't sat down to read with him in a while -- I know he's been getting better and better at reading, but I was just amazed at his progress.  He's been really enjoying a series of books called "The Adventures of Captain Underpants" (chapter books!) and I love that he loves reading as much as the rest of his family.  --Victoria

This fun spray park is only about 10 minutes from our house. I took Benji there after summer camp yesterday and he loved it. The little girls who were already there when we arrived were filling plastic
bottles with water and using them to splash each other and they invited Benji to join in their game. Now that I've checked this place out in person and seen how enclosed and shallow it is, I think I'll bring the babies next time as well.  --Victoria

Summer Sandals

Now that it's getting very warm, I got some sandals (flip flops) for Tamar and Daniel. I figured they would hate wearing them but I was totally wrong!  They love their new sandals and try to put them on by themselves all the time. After I got Daniel's sandals on, he tried to put Tamar's sandals on my foot -- needless to say, that didn't happen.  :)  --Victoria
