Saturday Afternoon Photo Shoot

On Saturday, we dressed up a little and went to Georgetown Law School (a lovely campus) and Aaron's friend Neil (who has the patience of a saint) kindly took some photos of our family.  We don't have the photos yet (other than some I took on my phone) but we're looking forward to seeing them and will post some when they arrive!

Relaxed Saturday

It's been a fun day although, now that I think about it, we got a lot done.  Aaron started studying for exams even before breakfast.  The kids chilled in their PJs and we ate waffles and bacon (not for me, but they love it).  After about half and hour of drawing/art, Benji curled up with a blanket and a book, and Tamar and Daniel spent a lot of time playing with Play-Doh.

They used an attachment on one of the tools that made long, skinny, tubes of Play-Doh and they decided that it was a snake family.  The snake family had two daddies and lots of kids and, in the story, they were taking a trip to Costco to get hot dogs.  Some sort of accident happened and some of the brother snakes got cut in half and "turned into baby snakes."  Daniel also told me that "the Rainbow Daddy got halved."  It was a dangerous morning for daddies, apparently!  At least Aaron was safe upstairs.

Silly Faces!

Daniel has an unfair advantage but the other two get points for trying hard!

(this silliness started when we realized that Daniel accidentally had some avocado on his nose)

Everyone Makes a "Set" (of Lego bricks)

Not content just to build the Lego sets that come in the boxes (or even to build other stuff with the bricks subsequently) Benji regularly rebuilds his Legos into new sets, then takes them apart and reassembles them.  Recently, he made a set that was a miniature city-scape set complete with roads, houses, a hospital (with parking garage), police station, drawbridge, and vehicles.
.
Of course, Tamar and Daniel have also started to make their own Lego sets.  Daniel's sets are similar to Benji's sets but smaller and less complicated.  Tamar's sets are much more abstract (think of a painting by Mondrian).

Benji is focused on getting the details just right:

With some bonus photos of Tamar, since she wasn't in the photo of her set.  :)

Benji's "Publishing Party"

Benji's class finished working on a major writing project and they had a "publishing party" this morning.  The hallway was lined with student authors who were ready to read their work to visiting parents and other adults (teachers, the principal, etc.) who wrote feedback on "compliment sheets" that were provided, which were placed in an envelope for each author.  Aaron and I were both very impressed with Benji's work!

More photos of Halloween Costumes!

We had so much fun this year!

Here's Tamar trying on her costume the night before Halloween...  These are the only photos we've seen of her in which her smile looks more like Daniel's than Benji's.  She was really amazed by the long blond braid wig that we got her.

Here are some close-ups of Daniel's owl costume.  (in the Harry Potter world, owls are special companions to wizards and witches, and also deliver mail, so he was part of the general theme, although it isn't as obvious at first glance)

Owl hat ...  thanks to fleece fabric, felt, and a newly-acquired glue gun.

Owl wings/cloak, thanks to lots of sewing and a very happy Victoria...
