Daniel with a toy school bus

He was using it to carry his sippy cup of milk as well as his favorite lion blanket.

Benji's summer (week 1 -- baseball camp)

He really enjoyed "Home Run Baseball Camp" and his self-confidence and skill level both got a boost.  When I arrived on Thursday afternoon, he was in the batting cage, kindly teaching a four-year-old girl how to hit while he pitched.  I was very proud of him.

I'm famous! (at our daycare, at least)

Several months ago, the daycare that Tamar and Daniel attend asked me to write up some answers to questions they asked about what I like about the program, so they could have some quotes for their Annual Report.  It turns out they used some of what I wrote!  I sign appeals decisions every day but this makes me feel famous.

Happy Brothers!

They love playing together and, fortunately, they're pretty equally matched it comes to rough-housing.

A lion band-aid

Every time one twin gets a scrape (and a Band-Aid), the other twin claims to have a scrape and insists they need a Band-Aid too.  Daniel wanted a Band-Aid but eventually announced, "Look Mommy, I ha a LION BADAID!"

Things Benji Builds

This is a lego "x-wing fighter" from the Star Wars movies.  The wings really move the way the ones in the movies do!

Benji over-prepares for the wading pool

I think he was planning to use the goggles covering his mouth as some sort of breathing apparatus.  In a pool with 6" of water . . .

Trendy Wading Pool Attire

Why would anyone need more than a diaper, goggles, and swim shoes?

No more booster chairs at the table?

We haven't discarded the boosters yet but sometimes Tamar and Daniel want to use the other chairs. As Daniel says, "I *big*!"

Things Benji Builds (tiny lego structures)

Lately, Benji has been making good use of a book given to him by Victoria's parents. This is a book with ideas about how to build things out of lego, but it gives ideas and guidelines instead of detailed instructions. Benji has been using the chapter that suggests building really tiny things, like miniature buildings, cars, and landscapes. In the picture below, he built a playground scaled down to the size of the mini-figure in the photo. You can see the slide and the monkey bars that the mini-fig is climbing along.

Taking a break from the pool (at the sand table)

The sand table . . .  Always a classic, and worth its weight in gold.

Swim goggles and water shoes

Tamar loves her "glasses" (as she calls them) and Daniel loves his "water shoes."

"Mommy I need oo!"

He tried to put on a new shirt but it got stuck on his "giant melon."

Wading Pool Time!

The kids have been spending a lot of time in the wading pool lately, with lots of splashing and fun. In the first and second photo, Tamar and Daniel are watching Benji play "bath-ketball," in which the player takes a shot while sliding down the slide into the pool. In the fourth photo, Benji and Daniel are riding the upside-down folded slide, which Benji named "the Happy Boat." And the observant viewer will notice that Benji's wetsuit is, indeed, inside out.
