Things Benji Says

"The world is a beautiful place."

Benji said this to me yesterday, as I was dropping him off with his babysitter (school was closed for the day).  I couldn't figure out what inspired it or whether he heard it from someone.

No matter where it came from, it's nice to have the reminder.

A New Friend

One of the women in my dance group has a five-year-old son named Caleb.  She brought him over to our house for a playdate while we worked on costumes for the dance group, and the boys had a fabulous time.  "Look, it's a MONSTER!  A TWO-HEADED HOUSE!!!"  They were ecstatic.  The house was destroyed (until Mom repairs it with duct tape, that is).

She sometimes brings Caleb to the dance practices on Wednesday, and the boys get to play there, as well.  In the second photo, I think they look like mini day-traders.  They just need little suits to match their poses and expressions.  --Victoria

Reptangles!

One of Benji's xmas presents was a box of 24 "reptangles" which are turtles that can be snapped together in various configurations.  He has been enjoying playing with them but, until now, he has mostly been sorting them by color and making patterns with the colors.  A few days ago, he got hold of the instruction manual and when I came into the room, he had put together a number of the basic configurations.  He did these all by himself except for the one on the far right, which he needed help with because he wasn't strong enough to snap the pieces together in that configuration.  He was pretty pleased with himself!  --Victoria

Things Benji Says

Exchange from yesterday:

Benji:  Mommy, can I watch Thomas on your laptop?
Victoria:  Not until I'm done working.
B:  Are you done now?
V:  No.
B:  Now?
V:  No.
B:  Now?
V:  No.  You need to stop asking me.
B:  Why?
V:  Because I'm getting really tired of hearing the same question.
B:  Well, I'm getting really tired of you telling me to stop.

Sigh.  He's too smart for my own good!
