Potty Training Update!

Yesterday, I got Benji out of his crib and changed his diaper. Two minutes later, he asked me for a new diaper. I thought he was just being silly, so I said: "You just had a new diaper, you can't need another one already." Then I realized what might be going on . . . I checked, and the diaper was completely wet. Good for him! He's communicating about this.

Tomorrow -- he's going to sit on the potty first thing in the morning!

Big Boy Underpants

It's that time of our lives... Modern diapers actually do TOO good a job of keeping a toddler dry, so that they are often not motivated to become potty trained. So, during the day, we're keeping Benji in training pants (padded underwear for toddlers) so that he can feel when he is wet or poopy, and hopefully get motivated to do something about it. At least, he has started sometimes telling us when he is wet! He ran into the bedroom yesterday evening and said "Daddy, I'm WET! CLEAN me!" It's progress. --Victoria

I am, technically, a "bad" mother. I prefer to think of it as "laid back." --Victoria

(I should clarify -- the "bad" thing that I'm referring to here is the fact that he's sitting sideways and not secured safely in the harness) :)
